The First Summer Habit Challenge: Walk After Every Meal!
We often hear the saying, "You are what you eat," and it holds a great deal of truth. The food we consume plays a significant role in determining our overall health. However, we mustn't overlook the importance of what we do after we eat. Have you ever worn a continuous glucose monitor (CGM)? If so, you may have noticed that when we move our bodies after a meal, our blood glucose levels recover more quickly, even after a less-than-healthy meal. So, what we do after eating is vital!
o optimize our metabolic health and experience remarkable results, we want to prepare our bodies for an efficient and effective metabolic process. Here's how you can tackle the first challenge and upgrade your summer habits:
1. After each meal, take a quick walk immediately.
2. Use this time to catch up on a midday conference call or simply relax and reset after your evening meal.
3. Resist the temptation to succumb to "rest and phone scrolling" after eating. Instead, jump right up and take that walk!
4. Aim for 30-45 minutes per walk, ideally after your two main meals each day
Walking after meals might seem like a small change, but its impact on your immediate and long-term health is enormous. Even if you don't make any other modifications this summer, committing to this habit can bring about remarkable improvements.
